Staten Island University Hospital - North Campus

Staten Island University Hospital – North Campus, located in Staten Island, is a member of the SIUH network.

It was founded in 1861 to provide health care services for Staten Islanders living north of the Staten Island Expressway to Tottenville, New York. It is located outside the Hurricane Barrier adjacent to Great Kills Harbor on land that once served as a U.S. Navy base known as U.S. Naval Station New York.

During the Korean War, a training program was established on Staten Island for students from other SIUH locations to come and practice their skills. These sites were located in Livingston, Port Richmond, and Great Kills, which was then known as Letterman Army Hospital. This location is where Martin Luther King went into cardiac arrest on April 30, 1968.
