Edison State Park, NJ, is located in Long Branch, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Named after the illustrious inventor, this 671-acre park is known for its extensive forests and grasslands which are home to an abundance of plants and animals. There are over three miles of trails throughout the park where visitors can hike or bike through various habitats that have been designated. Horseback riding is also available for an additional fee. There are numerous picnic areas throughout the park, which can be reserved up to nine months in advance. Visitors can enjoy camping at this state park; however, it is not directly on the water like other nearby campgrounds—such as Shark River or Manasquan Beach State Park—which may be better options for those who enjoy sunny days on the water. The facilities at Edison State Park include a playground, picnic pavilion, and kayak rentals. Fishing is also permitted in designated areas of the park’s freshwater lake.

Edison State Park is a popular site for school field trips as it features a natural science center with over 150 species of animals. Local students can learn about the various habitats that are present in the park through an interactive museum that features taxidermy animals, aquariums, and other visual displays. The Planetarium offers daily shows for visitors to learn about the constellations, stars, planets, and more.

The surrounding community of Long Branch is a boardwalk town as it features many beaches and dining options. Visitors can explore the town during their stay to enjoy various dining options, arcade games, or concerts held at its amphitheater in the summertime. Visitors can also find a variety of activities for non-campers including an aquarium, which is less than one mile from Edison State Park’s gatehouse.

Edison State Park is open year-round from 8 am to 4 pm, except on major holidays. The park features numerous activities for visitors including hiking, biking, picnicking, kayaking, fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing. The main entrance is located on Route 33, just south of the Garden State Parkway. There are two other entrances to the park, but their use is restricted during certain times of the year.

Overall, Edison State Park is a beautiful location for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. It offers an abundance of activities for campers and non-campers alike. It will certainly be an experience to remember.
