Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park

Thomas Edison Center at Menlo Park is a museum and educational facility in Edison’s hometown of Menlo Park (a town that borders Edison, New Jersey, and Woodbridge Township, New Jersey). The center’s mission statement is “to preserve the birthplace of Thomas A. Edison; to establish a regional science and technology center; and to nurture an interest in science, technology, and invention.”

The museum is located across the street from Thomas Edison’s original Menlo Park lab, built-in 1876. The museum contains exhibits on early life at Menlo Park including a replica of Edison’s workshop and library. The museum also includes an exhibit of 3D holograms that allow visitors to interact with replicas of inventions developed by Edison during his career. The museum is open to visitors year-round. The center features a sculpture, “Reconciliation”, created by Andrew Leicester and dedicated in 2006.

The following quote was taken from the TEC website: “TEC also hosts semester-long STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) programs for students from area high schools, offering hands-on experience in areas such as robotics, aerodynamics, oceanography, and astronomy.”
