William Warren Park, NJ, is a public park in Westfield, New Jersey. It is located at the intersection of Merchantville Ave and North Ave.
The park is named after William Warren, a local resident who was active in community affairs and volunteered to help the city maintain its flower gardens. William Warren was also the owner of a local landscaping company.
The park has many trees and gardens, as well as recreational facilities such as picnic tables, grills, and athletic fields. Children can play on the playground or in the small wading pool while their parents sit under a large willow tree and socialize. It is also permitted for visitors to bring small animals to the park. Although a leash law is enforced, much of William Warren Park is unfenced and visitors are allowed to walk their dogs off-leash if they choose.
The most distinguishing feature of the park is its flower gardens which provide visitors with an opportunity to admire native plants within the confines of an urban setting. The flow gardens feature a variety of species including daylilies, hostas, peonies, and bleeding hearts.
There are three memorial stones on-site; one for Mr. Warren and two others that honor police officers and firefighters who were killed while performing their duty, respectively. The memorial stones are located next to the playground.
The park also hosts many events, including free summer concerts for children and seniors. Several of the events include outdoor activities such as yoga, Tai Chi, and boot camps.
There are several sports played at the William Warren Park. Tennis, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, and more.
Near the park is the Cherry Hill Mall, Outlets of Cherry Hill, and many other stores. The Cherry Hill Mall is home to 130+ shops and even more restaurants.
